The Rules
01. The Basics
Simple enough. Be polite and respectful. Don't be rude to members or to staff. In fact, don't be rude to guests either because they're very important. Do not spam the site. It's okay if it's in the discussion board but you obviously know what is okay and not okay to put into a discussion post. No trolling, discriminating, insulting or offending anyone. No excessive cursing, especially to be mean to others. You will be warned if you are acting out of hand.
02. Ratings
We abide by Proboard's TOS. This means that you must keep everything PG-13. We don't want the site removed and further prevent any rping after all right? This rule must be followed for everything, from writing to graphics, including everything on the site (no pms, and no cbox). So what does this include? No excessive cursing (especially out of character guys), no nudity or pornography (no graphic sex), and definitely no graphic violence (no gore). Fade to black and take it somewhere off site if you must, but do not take it to pms.
03. Characters and Accounts
This is a one-account-per-character site. So unfortunately yes, you have to switch accounts and make a new one for each character. We have no limit on how many characters you can have total, however for each new one you will be required to buy a character slot. We're pretty generous with the freebies however. You have been given a total of five free slots (after all, us staff are pretty big character hoarders ourselves). After that, you must go to the site shop and purchase a character slot.
04. The Plot
Midnight Dreams does not have an official plot. Instead it is driven by the interactions between players and the outcomes of events. A basic time line will always be kept for major changes in the way the site is being played, but there will be no major direction. Events will help to influence the plot, but how character react and act in threads have the power to change it. So feel free to always sign up for events, and to pitch ideas at us staff members. We are more than willing to listen, and perhaps you may even start an event or plot-driving situation!
05. RPing and You
Pretty simple. No godmodding or powerplaying. We also will not allow any gary-stus or mary-sues. They just won't be accepted. Nobody is perfect okay? Everyone has their flaws, even wholly good people do. And even evil people have their good points okay? (yes, even angels have flaws. Even demons have good points). We are a literate site, however we welcome people of all rping styles. As for a word count, we only have one simple rule. No one liners. No exceptions. If it's in character, we ask that you don't give anyone any one liners. Or two-liners. In fact, at least try to give a decent paragraph. It's not fair to the people you're rping with if they give you several paragraphs worth of content and you give them a sentence. Password is fallen sky. Site is in liquid time. You can have as many threads as you would like, but try to keep track of things and keep them in an order.
06. Canons
All players may only have one canon in each category unless you give staff a good reason why you should have another. For example, this means that you are allowed to have one arch-angel and one arch-demon, but you couldn't make a second arch-angel, even if you gave up the arch-demon position. This is to provide roleplay opportunities and positions for others. We will be adding more canons as time goes on and the current ones get filled up, but they'll be other demon and angel ranks. But stay tuned!
07. Graphics
Face claims must be in animanga style. So sure, you can go ahead and have a game character as your face claim, but only if they have animanga-styled art and pictures for you to use. We want to keep everything in a basic style on Midnight Dreams, and a completely cgi'd character would be completely out of place wouldn't they? As for images, signatures can't be anything that stretches the board, as simple as that. Avatars are 150x150 pixels. You can try larger or smaller if you want, but unless it resizes it itself you can't have it (and if it stretches a smaller image it might look...strange). Hover images are 200x400 pixels. For these you cannot have anything larger or smaller. Staff will ask you to change it or change it ourselves if we see this. If you're going to make an appropriate image please make it the right size (and yes you must have one).
RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT WILL.
